As summer is coming, more and more beach lovers are in the search of great locations for its holidays. If you are those wishing for an endless sandy beach and a great surfing location, the Portuguese region of Algarve is definitely the best choice. Here we share a few recommendations from our #funplanners.
Praia Vale do Lobo
Our #funplanner Cris Galán recommends Praia Vale do Lobo (Loulé), which main touristic attraction is the colour on the rocks shaped by salt water. If you like sports then this is the best place to go, as you will be able to practice golf, tennis, and of course, any water sport.
Daniel Martinez prefers Quarteira, where you will be able to taste the best fresh and grilled fish and typical Portuguese food like shells soup or ink squids. The sandy area is about 3km.
Praia de Carvoeiro
Thus, Andrea Sanchez prefers Cavoeiro (Lagoa), a town that long ago was a fishing village and, since then, is one of the places with more visitors in Portugal. The cliffs invite the tourists to walk through their rocks and swim in the calm water. We recommend you to reach the top of the cliff where you will discover such spectacular panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Feel the essence of Carvoeiro vibrant life around its main square, where the beach village offers a bunch of cozy restaurants. Do not hesitate to walk till Praia do Paraiso located on the west side of Carvoeiro and between two cliffs. You will not regret it!
Península de Ancao y las Islas Barreta y Culatra
Faro is the preferred region of Jesús M.González in Algarve, but it is also the preferred region of many tourists and surfers during the summer;) The beaches of Faro are situated within the Natural Park of Ría Formosa, where you will find five islands and two peninsulas where the water flows. Here, the landscapevaries constantly due to the flow of the water and the sand banks. Faro’s beaches are situated between Ancao Peninsula and the island of Barreta and Culatra.
Dani also recommends Tavira, located in the east extreme of theisland which shares the same name. Reach the beach area by boat from Quatro Aguas or simply swimming if you are brave enough! Tavira has a long extension of sand and fishermen catching some sea treasures, such as tuna. You can stay on a campsite, practice water sports or even jump on a cruise from via Formosa.
Praias dos Homens, Amado y Odeceixe
Irene Yustres @ireyustres recommends Aljezur region. Fishing lovers will enjoy the delicacy of these beaches which also offer one of the most famous view of Portugal. The beaches are located at Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine coast, a natural marvel, worth enough to catch sight of. Here you will be able to practice from scuba diving to paragliding, perfect for sport’s adventurers.
Vila do Bispo Beaches
Castalejo, Salema y Ponta Ruiva
Yustres also invites to visit Vila do Bispo, where you will enjoy the mix of contrast made up by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Along these beaches you will find one of the most singular and splendid natural scenery in the world for bird-watchers. Every single beach is different from the others in Algarve. This ones are characteristic for its sandy area and the coast cliffs surrounded by the west winds. We invite you to discover Castalejo, Salema y Ponta Ruiva.
Praia do Beliche
Praia do Beliche is also in Do Obispo region. Without any doubt, this is one of the preferred beaches for the Portuguese and foreign visitors. It is sheltered by the north and west winds between Punta de Sagres and St. Vicent Cape. You will have to descend a stone staircase to reach the white sand. People say that it has some spectacular caves but also incredible landslide and that it is really full of surfers, boogie lovers and boarding fans;)
Praia Da Rocha
Irene recommends one of the most crowded beaches of Portugal in the region of Portimao: Praia Da Rocha. But, if you really want to escape from people do not come to this place, as you will have all the facilities close at hand;) But you will definitely enjoy the natural sightseeing, one of the most beautiful in Europe.
There are many other beaches in Algarve, each of them singular and unique where you can escape from stress, routine and people and be able to enjoy nature. Monte Gordo, Praia do Barco, Praia Marinha are some other beaches recommended by our #funplanners.
